OUR COMMUNITY IMPACT

TAKE A SHOT Sports programs support the guiding principles of SAFE SPORT for all participants

It is our aim to develop Competence, Confidence, Connection and Character in those we serve

• Sport participation is a great way to bring together youth from diverse backgrounds and experiences to achieve a common goal.

• Participants from all backgrounds, ages and abilities are welcomed, respected and are made to feel that they belong through inclusion in sport participation and a positive learning experience.

• Outside of school, sport participation creates “layers” of friendships and expansion of circles of influence. Participants now have relationships with “school friends” and “sports team friends” that are both meaningful and lasting. Sport participation truly allows a participant’s world to expand through increased connection.

• Sports participation allows youth to experience the challenges of overcoming uncomfortable situations and the success of learning how to delay gratification in a healthy, safe and structured environment.

Being active in sport not only helps teach and promote a healthy lifestyle that can last a lifetime, it has also proven to have a positive impact on mental health and personal well-being.

Overcoming challenges faced in sport helps build confidence, promotes problem solving and helps youth learn that they can truly be valuable & unstoppable.

Participating in team sport can help children learn to build social bonds with members of their community and promotes inclusivity at school, at home and throughout society.
